How to allow/block YouTube/Facebook?

Scope: Applies to Barracuda all Web Security Gateway, any firmware

Answer:

Since YouTube and Facebook is an HTTPS traffic it requires SSL inspection to allow specific video/Facebook page. (Web Security Gateway 210 and 310 do not support SSL inspection)

To block/allow Facebook see below example:

Block/Accept > URL Pattern: (facebook|fbcdn|fbstatic|fbsb|akamiahd|fb.me)

In Exceptions:

Action: Allow/Block.
Applies To: Select one which ever applies
Exception Type: URL Pattern
URL Pattern: (facebook|fbcdn|fbstatic|fbsb|akamiahd|fb.me)

To block/allow YouTube see below example:

Block/Accept > URL Pattern: (youtube|ytimg|ytstatic|ythome|googlevideo|youtu.be)

In Exceptions:

Action: Allow/Block.
Applies To: Select one which ever applies
Exception Type: URL Pattern
URL Pattern: (youtube|ytimg|ytstatic|ythome|googlevideo|youtu.be)

Additional Notes:

URL Pattern is used to create global rule while as Exception is used to create for specific user/groups or all users

Note:-

In order to allow specific video/Facebook page it requires SSL inspection. Which is supported only by Barracuda Web Security Gateway 410 and above on firmware 10.0 and above.
