How do I use the Silent Install feature in Yosemite Server Backup?

Solution #00004977

Scope:

Yosemite Server Backup 8.0 and above.

Answer:

Yosemite Server Backup includes the ability to force a Silent Installation, as well as Remote Installation capabilities. This is done by passing arguments to Yosemite Server Backup's setup.exe file.

NOTE: You will need to first unpack this archive to a temporary directory, and then either run the installation from there, or
copy the extracted files into a network share.

Pull Install method:

  1. Download and unpack the Yosemite Backup installation package into a directory (c:\YOSEMITE, for example).
  2. Open a Command Prompt (Start > Run > CMD) and browse to the directory the installer was extracted to:

C:\>cd Barracuda

C:\Barracuda>setup -silent=Yes -install=Yes <Optional Arguments>

Optional Arguments:
-IsDomainServer=Yes/No (Yes=Master server, No=Client)
-DomainAddress=<IP of Master Server> (Necessary to run as a Client)

How to push the silent installer to each client:
There are many ways to Push an install to clients, the one outlined below is using PsExec from Microsoft Sysinternals:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897553.aspx

You will need to download and extract the tools.

On the client, you will need to have a mapped drive to the installer, or copy the installer to each client.
Once that is done, from any machine in the Domain you will run (changing the parameters as appropriate):

PsExec \\<Machine Name> X:\Barracuda\setup -silent=Yes -install=Yes <Optional Arguments>

Optional Arguments:
-IsDomainServer=Yes/No (Yes=Master server, No=Client)
-DomainAddress=<IP of Master Server> (Necessary to run as a Client)
