Barracuda Yosemite Server Backup

How can I save log files in Windows Server Core?

Solution #00004982

Scope:

Yosemite Server Backup 8.0 and above
Windows Server Core 2008

Answer:
Because Windows Server Core has some limitations in certain functionality when compared to other versions of Windows Server 2008, "Common Dialog Boxes" like the "Save As" box in Windows-based applications do not work.  For this reason, in the rare instance where Yosemite Server Backup is being used on the console of a Server Core machine and the administrator wants to save a log file locally, the administrator would find that it does not work.

As a workaround, you can do one of the following things:

1. Configure YSB to automatically email a copy of the log file to you whenever a job is completed.
2. Configure YSB to automatically print a copy of the log file whenever a job is completed.
3. Open the YSB Administrator from a machine within the backup domain that is not a Server Core machine and save the file from there.
