How can I change to a new Master Server and retain my catalog using Yosemite Server Backup?

Scope:

Yosemite Server Backup, version 8.0 and above

Answer:
In certain cases you may find it necessary to move the Yosemite Server Backup catalog from one computer to another. 

To start, we will need to install Yosemite Server Backup on the New Master Server as a Master Server. For help on installation, see Solution #00004013.
  1. Stop the Yosemite Server Backup Service on the Existing Master Server. 
    • For details on starting / stopping the Yosemite Server Backup Service refer to Solution #00004025.
  2. Make a copy of the database folder found in the install path of Yosemite Server Backup. 
    • For details on the Yosemite Server Backup default installation path refer to Solution #00004045.
  3. Stop the Yosemite Server Backup Service on the New Master Server.
  4. Rename or Delete the database folder on the New Master Server
  5. Copy the database folder from the Existing Master Server to the New Master Servers installation path.
  6. Start the Yosemite Server Backup Service on the New Master Server.
  7. Open Yosemite Server Backup and verify all jobs, media, virtual devices, etc. are still populated as originally configured.
  8. You will then need to verify the Client machines are pointing to the New Master Server.
  9. Open the ytconfig.ini file which can be found in the config folder within the installation path.
  10. Verify the line "databaseServerAddress=" is pointing to the correct IP or Fully Qualified Domain Name.
  11. Verify the line below "[domainList]" is pointing to the correct IP or Fully Qualified Domain Name.'
  12. Restart the Yosemite Server Backup Service for any changes to take effect.
