Barracuda CloudGen Firewall Malware Protection Subscription: Important update for CGF v8.3.0, 8.3.1, 8.3.2, and 9.0.0

With Barracuda CloudGen Firewall v8.3.3 and 9.0.1 new keys have been introduced to continue the Malware Protection Pattern Update service from AVIRA (Gen Digital). Our partner Gen Digital informed us that the old keys will expire by JULY-31-2024.

We highly recommend updating to v8.3.3, v9.0.1 (or higher) to continue receiving AVIRA Pattern updates.

Hotfixes are available for CGF release versions 8.3.0, 8.3.1, 8.3.2, and 9.0.0.

Please visit https://dlportal.barracudanetworks.com for the specific hotfix or version update or contact our Support Team for assistance.

Why are regular AV Pattern Updates so important?

When you are using the local Malware Protection Service on your system and you do not install the hotfix or update to 8.3.3 or 9.0.1 until JULY-31-2024, the CloudGen Firewall Malware Protection Service will continue running but it will no longer receive AVIRA Pattern Updates, which means that your local Anti-Virus security will degrade over time. Without regular pattern updates, the latest malware variants will not be detected, which increases the cyber risk.

For the Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) service no update is needed. The central Barracuda ATP service (cloud hosted) has already been updated in Fall 2023.
