Barracuda Backup

Expired Subscriptions

  • Last updated on

Barracuda Backup requires an Energize Updates (EU) subscription for firmware upgrades, security updates, and Technical Support. Energize Updates are also required to maintain compatibility with the Barracuda Backup Cloud (accessed through login.barracuda.com). Barracuda Backup performs updates to the cloud to maintain compatibility with the latest legacy, general, or early release firmware versions.

This does not apply to the local web-based management interface which is accessible for restores or the Local Control management option.

Once your Energize Updates subscription expires, Barracuda Networks retains the right to disable access to your Barracuda Backup cloud account. Once this happens, you will no longer be able to access the Barracuda Backup cloud interface, which is used to manage your backups, view reports, and recover data. The ability to replicate data offsite for disaster recovery will also be disabled.

If you have a Barracuda Backup cloud storage subscription, once your subscription expires, all data replication offsite will be disabled. If a cloud storage subscription remains expired for a period of 30 days, and arrangements have not been made with Barracuda Networks, the data will be purged from Barracuda cloud storage. This includes all data that has been offsite vaulted and is no longer accessible on the local appliance.

When your subscriptions have expired and access to the cloud interface has been disabled, you can still recover data stored on the local Barracuda Backup appliance by using the local interface. This does not include any data that has been offsite vaulted and is no longer stored on the appliance.

To renew your subscriptions, contact Barracuda Networks before your subscriptions expire, along with your serial number.

Barracuda Networks does not offer a data export service for Barracuda Backup. If you do not plan to renew your subscriptions and need to access your cloud data, it is recommended that you plan accordingly and begin the process of migrating your data to another system.
